    Twiddling Our Twiddlers

    After the initial excitement of getting our first set of plans, we have been sitting back and twiddling our thumbs for the next ounce of movement. Currently, the DEH (Department of Environmental Health, the folks who give your septic system the thumbs up) is working on approving our new septic layout, which has been a wee bit bumpy for no particular reason. We wanted to shift our leech field to an area below our house instead of above so gravity could do it’s thing.     Something, something, something, sheer walls, something.

    Have I mentioned that my husband hates windows? No? Oh, well he does. If you put your ear carefully up to a sea shell, you can hear the sound of him complaining about the number of windows I would like to have in our house and…you should listen to him, because I haven’t. Something about not wanting our house to fall down, minor details. Blah, blah, blah. He is a curmudgeonly mole man, and I appreciate the brightness of life. Opposites attract. Like shear walls.     Plans baby, it is all about the plans.

    Awwww yeah! There has been a lot of radio silence on the house for the past couple of weeks because really, nothing has been happening. When people ask us about how things are going with the house, they are always shocked when I say “nothing”. Things are slow. Plans were being made, engineers were doing things, and finally we have a bit of forward movement. Our septic layout is planned and ready to head off to the county for approval.
